KELLER, TX – Every year, Shiner Beer (a very successful craft beer company based in Texas) sponsors a Texas music competition for up and coming artists.  After 22 bands, several months of live competitions, Derek Anthony is one of four finalists for the 2014 Shiner Rising Star.  Derek has been performing over eight years in Texas, and is thrilled to be recognized as one of the elite talents in Texas.  Derek has opened up for Mark Chesnutt, Aaron Watson, Tim McGraw, and many others.  Derek is one of the favorite house bands at Billy Bob’s Texas (world famous honky tonk in Ft. Worth).  With his sophomore album, “Cowboy Way” released last year, he is eager to get his music heard.  ”Cowboy Way” can be heard at all the Dallas Cowboys home game, and remained on national country radio for 26 straight weeks.  Just off his latest release “Give It to Me Strait”, has charted on the Texas charts and currently positioning this single/video to CMT, GAC, and many other video outlets online to be added in their rotation.  Derek states, ” I am so proud of the music video for “Give It to Me Strait”.  If you haven’t watched the video, you need to check it out.”  Just last week, Matt Caldwell, a successful Texas artist, was one of the panel judges and stated “You are one of the best bands I have seen in the past eight years, even with all my time in Nashville, you guys are tight, and have a great energy and talent.  Keep doing what you are doing.”  FINALS for the Shiner Rising Star will be held Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 8pm at Love and War (Plano) location.  The winner receives at $10,000 recording contract with Shiner Records with award-winning producers in the Texas music industry.  See more at www.derekanthony.net.  Be sure to follow Derek on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Youtube.
